Listing moderation policy
Every advertisement on this site is written and paid for by the advertiser. This page sets out what is allowed, how to report something that is not, and what we do about it.
How a listing appears
An advertiser chooses a ZIP code, enters their own website link, the name and the one line of text they want shown, and pays. The listing is published automatically as soon as payment is confirmed.
Listings are not reviewed before they appear. We say so plainly rather than imply otherwise. Moderation happens after publication, on report and by our own checks, and every listing can be removed at any time.
What is not allowed
An advertisement must not:
- promote anything unlawful where the advertiser or the audience is
- use a brand name, logo or trading name the advertiser is not entitled to use, or imply a relationship with a business that does not exist
- be deceptive about what is being offered, including fake discounts, invented urgency, or claims the advertiser cannot support
- link to malware, phishing, or a page that materially misrepresents what the listing described
- contain or link to adult or sexual content, gambling, weapons, drugs, or content directed at exploiting anyone
- make health, medical or financial claims of the kind that require a licence the advertiser does not hold
- harass, threaten, or target an individual, or promote hatred against a group
- impersonate this site, its operator, or any public body
Advertisers accept these terms before payment, and confirm at that moment that they are entitled to use the brand and the link they are submitting.
Reporting a listing
No reporting address is configured. Set contact_email in the
back office under Settings, or this policy has no route into it.
What we do, and when
- Within one business day of a report, we look at the listing and the page it links to.
- Immediately, without waiting, if a listing is impersonating a brand, linking to malware or phishing, or promoting something unlawful, it is removed as soon as we see it.
- We remove first and discuss afterwards where there is real doubt. A wrongly removed advertisement can be restored; a harmful one left up cannot be undone.
- We tell the advertiser what was removed and why, at the address they gave, if they gave one.
Removal is permanent for that listing and the fee is not refunded, which the terms state before payment. An advertiser who disagrees can reply to the notice and we will look again.
Checks we run without being asked
- New listings are looked over regularly, and the ones on the most visible ZIP codes are looked at first.
- We open the destination of a listing ourselves when we review it, and always when one is reported. We do not claim to check every link at the moment it is submitted.
- Automated submission is rate limited, and the same brand cannot hold two listings on one ZIP code.
- Every removal and edit is recorded in an internal audit log with the reason and who did it.
Repeat offenders
An advertiser who breaks these rules more than once has their remaining listings removed and is refused further listings. We do not run accounts, so this is enforced on the brand and the domain being advertised.
Intellectual property
If a listing uses your brand, logo or name without permission, email the address above and say who you are and what you own. Verified reports are acted on the same day. We do not require a formal notice to remove an obvious impersonation, though we will accept one.
